The 440 mower is powered by a 993-cc, V-twin, air-cooled Vanguard® BIG BLOCK™ EFI gasoline engine with Electronic Throttle Control. The engine is horizontally mounted to provide longer service life.
G3 hydrostatic transmission.
The robust G3 hydrostatic transmission is design-matched to the power unit, ensuring smooth, responsive control while delivering more power to the drive tires and cutting deck. The unit features a 21-cc capacity with piston pumps and high-torque Parker wheel motors.

Ultimate Operator Station
The Grasshopper Ultimate Operator Station™ is centered around a deep-cushioned seat featuring coil-spring suspension and padded lumbar support. The seat is iso-mounted to reduce vibration and covered in cool, comfortable Cordura® fabric that won't tear or crack with extended use. It also features easy-to-reach operational controls, including the throttle, ignition, and push/pull PTO switch. Plus, QuikAjust Tilt™ dual levers with a 9-inch adjustment range allows for a more custom fit and will automatically return to neutral from either forward or reverse.
