Grasshopper dealer raises more than $12,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation

FORT SMITH, Ark. – The Mower Shop, an outdoor power equipment dealer, and radio station KTCS 99.9 FM in Fort Smith were able to raise more than $12,000 for the Mid-South Chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation through its 10th Annual Grasshopper Mower Giveaway. The giveaway winner, Brian Rodgers of Fort Smith, was announced live on the air on April 5. The total amount raised will enable Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant two wishes to children with life-threatening diseases, including one for a Fort Smith teen battling an aggressive form of liver cancer. Elisha Choate will be the star of an upcoming Grasshopper mower commercial for The Mower Shop with the help of KFSM Channel 5 news in Fort Smith. When Choate’s original wish for a family trip to Hawaii could not be granted due to his health, Scott Martin, a chaplain who knows Choate well, approached Kim Olson, owner of The Mower Shop, about filming the commercial. Martin said that because of the dealership’s commitment to Make-A-Wish Foundation and Choate’s love of Grasshopper equipment, the commercial would be a good alternative. “Make-A-Wish Foundation is a great organization, and we are honored to help grant Elisha’s wish to star in this commercial,” Olson says. The commercial was filmed on April 12 and will air on KFSM Channel 5 in the near future.
